How to Release Negativity Quickly

Just the other day I was flying from Zurich to Bangkok and whilst reading a magazine giving advice on how to let go of negativity I remembered a time many years ago when I lived in Hong Kong.

This period of my life was often quite difficult and there were a couple of things that I would do that would always shift my state from a negative to a positive one.

I continue to use them when I need to change my state quickly.

I thought I would pass them on to you, as they really do have a permanent and positive effect.

OK, so the first thing is simply to write. On numerous occasions when I was living in Hong Kong and feeling down I would go to a cafe, get out my journal and write.

This is no reflection of Hong Kong by the way, it just so happened that I was living there whilst learning about some of my deeper negative patterns of behavior.

I never wrote with the purpose of achieving anything, I just wrote about how I was feeling, which was often quite low at that time.

I would not hold back at all with the content of what I wrote. If I wanted to judge another person or situation, I would just go ahead and do it.

It was as if I was letting all my badness come out onto paper.

So when next you are feeling really stuck or negative and you can't seem to move it, get out pen and paper and start writing. Remember you are not writing a book or an article, you are just writing your feelings. Don't censor your writing in any way, let it all out, judge, scream and shout onto the paper.

Take as long as it takes until you start to feel better.

What you will find is that your creative juices will start to flow again, you may see solutions, get new ideas or just feel way more positive.

This is such an easy method of getting past your negative blocks, you just have to give your self the time to do it.

The most difficult part of this technique is to actually get your self to do it. When you are in a negative state, it is more difficult to get your self to do anything, so just remember not to listen to your negative self talk and just go and write.

You'll be amazed at how quickly you can shift your state.

The second thing I would do that would always shift my state from negative to positive was to dance or just express through moving my body.

You don't need to be a dancer to do this, its very simple and you can do it with our without music.
All you do to start is to find a private space that you can dance in, then you dance exactly as you feel.

So for example if you are feeling shy then move your body as if you were shy, if you are feeling angry then move your body how you imagine angry would dance.

By expressing what ever you are feeling in the dance you let it go and eventually you are left with emptiness.

Again from this space your creativity can then have space to show itself to you.

Negative states of consciousness don't allow us to get to our natural creativity, so whatever way you can find of changing state from the negative to the positive will always help you get back to your creativity.

There you have it, two very simple techniques to bring you back to your positive state easily and very quickly.
